Living & Playing Together in Moreton Bay

Moreton Bay, off the coast of Southeast Queensland, is considered a biodiversity hotspot.
The bay is home to an incredible array of iconic marine species like dugongs, turtles, dolphins, whales, fish, sharks and rays.

But because it’s so close to Brisbane, it’s also a very busy bay for recreational and commercial traffic. And that’s only going to increase.

So the question becomes, how does all that traffic above the surface affect the marine life below it.

That’s what a new project, called ‘Living and Playing Together, aims to find out. Using state-of-the-art technology combined with statistical analysis, the team will try to determine the impact on the marine life.

In this episode, we chat with Project Team Leader Dr Julie Vercelloni, and Suzie Christensen, who is CEO of the Moreton Bay Foundation.
